鉄道は、たくさんの人たちをつないでくれる「道」だと思います。 This is a blog about railways in Japan and around the world by an enthusiast.
Hankyu Railway 阪急(関西のおしゃれな電車)
Hankyu is one of the major private railways in Japan, and particularly represents Kansai area.
It connects Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe three major cores in Kansai and also has some interesting branch lines to Takarazuka, Itami, Arashiyama and others.
Hankyu trains color is uniformly and historically maroon. I am not sure this makes sense for English natives but similar color with brown. Its brand image is a little luxurious…, and this has some similar contexts branding with Tokyu Railways in the East.
Hankyu is superior to other private railways in some senses. Osaka Umeda terminal has dead end 9 platforms decorated with beautiful flowers and high ceiling hall and this is exceptional style in Japan. I surely admit that it is smaller than terminals in New York, London, Paris, Berlin and many others…, but here I can see the efforts of this enterprise. Inside the train, Hankyu has a little relaxed sofa seat and woodie interior.
“Modest (or petit) luxurious” will be a key of this country in industry, marketing or other issues, though it may be an exaggeration of my personal but honest feeling. Though I will not talk it over very further, Japan has been and will be “a little” nice or rich place at the best in social context.
